Pre-Placement Assignments & Activities
The first 8 school days will be dedicated to student orientation. It is at this time that we attempt to place students. While interviews are taking place students should be working on the following. Remember, this is your first opportunity to "prove" yourself . Lates, absences, poor use of class time will result in NO PLACEMENT. You cannot start your placement until these assignments are done.
Pre-placement Day 1
We will discuss the following as a class
Student Handbooks will be distributed. This MUST be filled out, signed and handed in prior to starting your placement.

Go to www.ohrc.on.ca and complete and hand in the following assignment:
Employability Skills Quiz Online – Email me a summary of your results. What are your 5 listed strengths? Do you agree you with these results? What 2 occupations that match your results interest you the most and Why? |
Pre-placement Day 6
Post to our Blog what your expecatations would be if you were in charge of the hiring for the field you are hoping to co-op in. What education or training would you be looking for in a potential worker? Experience? Personal Characteristics? What would get someone fired if you were the boss?Remember, your businesses success depends on great employees.

There are 2 times that a thank you letter is appropriate. Right after an interview and when leaving a job. We will concentrate on the post interview/meeting thank you letter. Below is a sample. Complete your own and hand it in.

Once you have found a placement it is time to fill out your Personalized Placement Learning Plan (PPLP pages 17- 20) from your student handbook.
